Eland School’s Commitment to Holistic Support

Community Support Eland School

Eland School is not only dedicated to academic and cultural education—it is also deeply committed to supporting the broader ‡Khomani San community. In 2017, the school took a major step forward by appointing Ms Letitea Molise as the Community Services Facilitator (CSF), a role designed to bridge education, social welfare, and community development.

Working in collaboration with the Department of Social Development, Ms Molise’s role is defined by clear protocols and communication pathways. Her work centres on strengthening families, supporting youth, and nurturing emotional well-being across the six ‡Khomani San farms.

One of her first initiatives was a six-part Parenting Workshop, initially focused on the parents of Eland School learners. Due to its success, the program now runs regularly in small groups across the community, including house-to-house visits and one-on-one counselling—meeting people where they are, both literally and emotionally.

Ms Molise also leads the Life Skills Holiday Programme for learners in Grades 8 to 12. Held twice a year, these workshops build confidence, self-awareness, and future aspirations—creating a space where teenagers can begin to imagine and shape brighter futures. Student teachers who assist in the program gain valuable personal and professional growth in the process.
